After so many years, after so many alternating hiccups times of either coding-a-lot and no-coding-at-all, time has come.

putting down in the ground a milestoneWhen I started this weblog in January, I felt that all the stuff we'd slowly collected had reached a level of general growth that can't be stopped. In the last 7 months we stopped again in the middle, and although this we maximized our "in action" period, setting the guidelines to aim a definitive target. We didn't get fear when we had to perform heavy changes in the graphics, code, gameplay, music.
Today, we feel that the whole project has entered an advanced state, that will take us to an happy end: now, and now only, we're sure about a happy end of the whole enterprise.

We wanna set a milestone, the first of a series, that could make you fill the new era has come. Hence, download the first XeO3 demo!
We don't wanna show too much, because we're at work on most of the code, gfx, music and gameplay; but in my opinion, this first sample will catalyze your attention.
Look at the rightmost column: a "Demos" cell is born! Here we will collect all the demos released before the final version. Currently, it also contains a very early engine, father of the whole stuff!

download the first demoWe strongly suggest you to try it on the original hardware, for a better output in both visual and music.
If you're not able to run the demo on the real Plus/4, you need to set this minimum configuration on latest version of YAPE emulator:
- 64Kbytes, any machine;
- SIDcard emulation at $FD40, new chip 8580, TEDclock.

Download it, run it, watch it, but don't forget to tell us your opinion in the comments area here, or by different ways.

New thrust again for the project, and it appears to be a definitive one!

You can have a direct evidence of this, taking a look to the Mike Dailly's personal weblog, actually the perfect twin of this one. On his blog, Mike started to write about the programming side of the project, while this blog will keep you informed about the resulting stuff (visual, audio etc.): he will manage all the machine's feeding, I'll manage all the machine's...errr...production... Bah, what an unlucky similarity.

Anyway, we doubled the source of news about our project, and now you can have a very complete picture of our project: what had been done, what are we managing right now, what must be done in the near future.

And now, countdown for the big date: we're very close to our first release, in order to keep the audience engaged. A teaser demo will be released very soon, so stay with us!

It's time to let your mummy scream:"Jeez, your room is so dusty! Confess, did you blast some turrets and mines here?".

The latest version of XeO3 allows to destroy al the frantically shooting turrets, and to make a breach thru the clusters of pulsating mines. All this movement, added to sprite waves, background animations and turrets'bullets, reaches that dynamic visual performance that a shoot'em'up game can't miss: now you have the feeling of a menace from the deep unknown space, who knows how many enemies will jump out from the darkest corner?

Soon, next issues: shooting enemies, collision with background, and finally the first big boss will scare you in the terrific hugeness of its own 9 composed sprites shape!
